Even though the calendar shows that we are in the middle of January, things are heating up, and it is not due to global warming but to activity in our Republican Party.
Local Republican Caucuses are being planned in towns throughout York County. As they are scheduled, they will be posted on the calendar at mainegop.com. York County will work to post them on our website calendar and Facebook page and let candidates know so they can make plans to attend.
Caucuses are your chance to get involved at the grassroots level. The purpose of a town caucus is to elect the officers of your town Republican Committee and delegates to the York County Committee, and it is your only opportunity to become a delegate to attend the Maine Republican State Convention scheduled for 1 May 2020 in Augusta.
The York County GOP has scheduled a Lincoln Day Breakfast for 15 February at Duffys in Old Orchard Beach. We are in the process of arranging for a special guest speaker and further working to organize this event.
Please watch our website and when tickets become available, please purchase. This breakfast is a fund raiser and will assist York County in providing much needed assistance and support to all York County Republican candidates from County Commission to the Maine State House and Congress. Your support and attendance at this event will be greatly appreciated.
Mark your calendar, 3 March is Super Tuesday Primary Election Day. This is your chance to show your support for President Trump by voting. It is also your chance to vote for the People’s Veto of the Vaccine Bill. Our own Representative Heidi Sampson, along with many volunteers in York County worked diligently to make this happen. Let’s show them our support and Vote Yes on Question 1. As with any Election Day, there could be local issues and offices such as town selectman on the ballot. Please Vote! And if you will not be able to vote on March 3, please make the extra effort to get and return an absentee ballot which should be available at your town office in early February. Every vote counts!
There are many candidates and volunteers collecting signatures to get our candidates on the June primary ballot. Reach out to your local elected official or attend our county meetings and local caucuses to sign candidate petitions.
